President Luis Lacalle Pou confirmed on Monday that four new positive cases of coronavirus were added, from the 211 samples treated in recent hours, bringing the total number of infected Covid 19s in the country to 162.
Of the total number of coronavirus patients, three remain in hospitals: one is in intensive care and two are in moderate care, Public Health Minister Daniel Salinas reported Monday at a press conference.
Lacalle Pou also announced that the ability of laboratories to process samples will double in the coming hours, of approximately 200 per day or more than double.
"It was neither aggravated yesterday with 23, nor is it attenuated today with 4," the President of the Republic said of the evolution of the number of positive cases of coronavirus between Sunday and Monday.
Lacalle Pou urged the population to increase measures of containment and social isolation. "We will have the week, theoretically, sharper. We'll leave everything to court," the president said.
It was also announced on Monday that the Salto and Tacuarembó Hospitals will prepare their facilities to receive coronavirus patients. On Saturday, the Secretary of the Presidency, Alvaro Delgado, had anticipated that the Spanish Hospital will become the first Covid center in the country, in the orbit of ASSE.
